EmployaLingua
EmployaLingua® bridges that gap — for ESOL learners entering employment, and for skilled workers already in the workforce but held below their capability by the language of the sector. A gamified AI platform using proprietary dignity-infused AI conversationalists to teach sector-specific workplace language in English and the learner's native language, simultaneously.

What makes EmployaLingua® different
Dignity-infused AI conversationalists Proprietary — AI tutors designed on a dignity-first model. They build on what a learner can do. They never expose what they can't.
Simultaneous bilingual learning — learners acquire workplace English while their native language reinforces comprehension in real time. Not switching between languages. Both at once.
Sector-specific from day one — not general English. The vocabulary, reading passages, and AI conversations are of the role the learner is entering.
Smart CV built automatically — every activity the learner completes adds to a bilingual professional profile an employer can read immediately.
CEFR-tracked A1 → B2 — Range, Accuracy, Fluency, Coherence assessed at every level gate. Reportable evidence per learner, per cohort.
"EmployaLingua is a game changer. Their faces lit up."

The distinction
General fluency and vocational fluency are not the same thing. Standard ESOL was never designed to close the underemployment gap.
A learner can hold a conversation in English and still be unable to read a care plan, follow a site induction, or respond to a clinical handover. The barrier is not conversational English — it is the sector-specific language of the role they are entering.
And many of these learners are not unemployed. They are underemployed — a Syrian doctor working as a care assistant, a Colombian engineer labouring on a construction site, an Ethiopian accountant in a hotel kitchen. Technically capable, professionally experienced, working below their level because the language of the sector is the only thing standing between them and the work they can actually do.
EmployaLingua® is built for both. Not as a supplement to ESOL provision — as the mechanism that makes ESOL provision produce sector-ready workers, not just English speakers.
Dignity-infused AI conversationalists Proprietary
EmployaLingua®'s AI tutors are not generic chatbots. They are built on a dignity-first design model — every interaction is framed around what the learner can do, not what they can't. The AI stays in character as a workplace colleague, supervisor, or patient while simultaneously evaluating language proficiency. The learner never feels assessed. They feel heard.
Simultaneous bilingual learning
Most language platforms teach in the target language or translate on demand. EmployaLingua® does both at once. The learner is building English and reinforcing comprehension in their native language in the same activity. For a Syrian Arabic speaker entering a Manchester care home, this means every word they learn in English is anchored in the language they think in — dramatically improving retention and confidence.
Push delivery — trauma-informed by design
Refugees and displaced people carry significant decision fatigue. EmployaLingua® removes one more decision from their day. The platform tells learners exactly what to do next. They tap Start. The path — vocabulary, reading, AI conversation, assessment gate — takes them the rest of the way.
Built in partnership
EmployaLingua® was prototype-tested in Manchester through an active partnership with organisations working directly with refugees and asylum seekers in the employment pipeline. The interface, language, and path were each iterated based on direct feedback from the people the platform is built to serve.
Usability changes made in response to how real learners navigated the prototype
Language and content adjusted based on what resonated — and what didn't — with the target community
Concept validated by the people it is designed for, in the sector it was first built for

Partner testimonial
Many of the learners who tested the prototype already knew what they were capable of. They had qualifications, experience, careers — in other countries, in other languages. What they saw in EmployaLingua® was a platform that finally met them at their level.
"EmployaLingua is a game changer. We saw our students test the platform and their faces lit up. They were really impressed by the personalised learning plan.
The platform
Designed for cohorts of 20–500 learners. Commission as a standalone vocational fluency strand or alongside PthFndR Trapezium delivery for full pre-to-employment measurement.
Dignity-infused AI conversationalists
ProprietaryAI tutors that stay in character as workplace colleagues — virtual supervisor, patient, family member, or interviewer — while evaluating language proficiency in real time. Dignity-first by design: they build on what the learner can do, never expose what they can't.
Simultaneous bilingual learning
English and the learner's native language — Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, or Tigrinya — taught in the same activity, at the same time. Not translation on demand. Simultaneous acquisition that anchors new vocabulary in the language the learner thinks in.
Sector-specific vocabulary
Not general English. The words, abbreviations, process language, and professional register of Healthcare, Construction, Digital, or Teaching — designed per sector × CEFR level by your admin curriculum team.
CEFR-tracked progression
Language proficiency tracked across Range, Accuracy, Fluency, and Coherence at every level. Assessment gates at A1, A2, B1, and B2 must be passed before the path advances — producing standards-aligned, reportable evidence per learner.
Smart CV + CEFR Passport
Every activity auto-builds a bilingual professional profile. The CEFR Passport describes what the learner can do — in English and their native language — in plain, confident terms an employer can act on. Built automatically. No extra effort from the learner.
Gamified push delivery
Streaks, milestones, and visible progress. Content delivered proactively — learners tap Start, the path does the rest. Designed for people carrying the decision fatigue of resettlement. No menu navigation. No choices about what to study. Just progress.
Partner portal
The partner portal gives referring organisations — ESOL providers, refugee charities, employment agencies — a live view of their learners' progress. Not a monthly report. A real-time dashboard.
